GSEN Learning Workshop in Ghana: October 2016

August 23, 2016

GSEN in Africa

GSEN is teaming up with Reach for Change on Monday 24 & Tuesday 25 October to deliver a Learning Workshop for leading intermediaries supporting early stage social entrepreneurs across Africa.

The GSEN Learning Workshop is part of a larger initiative, made possible by support from the Robert Bosch Stiftung. In addition to Reach for Change, we are pleased to be partnering with GSEN members LifeCo UnLtd South Africa and Yunus Social Business on this exciting new project which will help us to impact the ecosystem in Africa by creating new connections and networks for us all.

Planning the GSEN Learning Workshop

Each project partner is well established in Africa already, enabling us to deliver a workshop high on local knowledge and understanding which combines multiple experiences of helping social entrepreneurs across Africa to start and thrive.

Together, we are planning an experience to help expert supporters refine and grow their work, and to share best practices in new and innovative ways.

Intended outcomes

This project is a long-term approach to improve the effectiveness and reach of organisations supporting early stage social entrepreneurs in Africa. Specifically:

  • Social enterprise support organisations will be better connected: to other actors in Africa (cross-country connections) and to a global network of peer organisations (international connections)
  • Support organisations will be better skilled: accessing relevant learning opportunities and expert-led workshops delivered in their own region
  • Ongoing peer to peer learning and support will be activated
  • Support organisations will become more efficient and better performing: providing better quality support and creating more social impact as a result
  • Individuals wishing to start own social venture in Africa will have access to quality programmes of support at the critical early stage.

We are also offering a limited number of travel bursaries to enable organisations to take part. Participation is by invitation only. If you would like to find out more about this exciting new initiative please email us.
