By mapping, connecting and convening intermediaries across Africa, our initiative has worked to improve the effectiveness and reach of organisations supporting social entrepreneurs in Africa.
Our first stage in the initiative was to identify these intermediaries operating in Africa. Our new GSEN Mapping Report lists more than 60 organisations supporting early stage social entrepreneurs in Africa, with information on the support they offer and where they operate.
For the second stage, over 60 Africa-based organisations were invited to participate in the first-of-its-kind GSEN Learning Workshop for social enterprise supporters in Ghana in October 2016. In the end, 21 participants, active across 16 countries in Africa came together to build skills, knowledge and networks, helping them to improve their support for early stage social entrepreneurs.
The final stage of this initiative brought GSEN members from Africa, Asia Pacific, North America, Western Europe & Central & Eastern Europe together for the GSEN Annual Event in South Africa, exchanging knowledge, connecting social leaders and delivering change. Watch out for the final outcomes report at the end of April 2017.
We are grateful to the generous support of the Robert Bosch Stiftung for making this initiative possible.
